When preparing for a wedding, I’m always apprehensive that the day will go well, that the rain will stay away, and the bride and groom will have a an enjoyable experience. Having met Deirdre prior to the wedding, I was sure that she would be a great Bride to work with and I had no doubt that her hubbie to be; Brian, would be just as easy going. If I was in any doubt, or had any fears, they were all put to rest the very second I pulled up outside the Mc Elroy household. I hadn’t even taken my key out of the ignition before I spotted Deirdre coming running out of the house, both arms open wide, ready for a hug. Seriously, this lady’s happiness is infectious!! I mean . . . I don’t think I have ever photographed a lady who smiled as much . . . who hugged her guests as much . . . and who laughed as heartily all day long. I went home from this wedding thinking; “you know, I’m going to try and take a little leaf out of Deirdre’s book”.
The whole Mc Elroy household was abuzz with excitement and laughter the entire morning of the wedding preparations. Every little detail, and development was met with squeals of laughter and delight. Usually, when the wedding car arrives at the bride’s house, a brother or a Daddy shouts up the stairs; “The cars are here”. USUALLY, that is met with nervous smiles and declarations of “uh oh, what time is it?” Well . . . in the Mc Elroy house . . . the arrival of the wedding car was met with squeals of delight with all family members running to the door to see the cars, wave at the driver and all female members jumping up and down with excitement. Now, I tell you . . . how would that sense of happiness not make your day as a photographer!?!
Deirdre & Brian were a delight to photograph. This couple clearly think the world of each other and they managed to squeeze as much as they possibly could into the short time they had to celebrate their wedding. Wedding days go by fast . . . very fast, but I think we got as many photographs as physically possible before the entering the function room. I think lady luck was smiling down on this couple and ensured that they got the best possible weather that ensured we got bucket loads of locations shots, before heading off to the Four Seasons hotel in Monaghan.
I hope you enjoy this pretty comprehensive sneak peak x
